Job Description |
|
We are currently looking for a passionate Collection Project Coordinator to join the Arts Council Collection team. This role is full time fixed term contract until September 2026.
This role will play a key role in the exciting relocation of our collection to a new storage facility.
The Collection Project Coordinator will support the logistics and planning behind the large-scale move of over 8,200 works of contemporary British art, working closely with the wider Arts Council Collection team and our transport partners. This is a fantastic opportunity to gain hands-on experience in collections care, artwork handling, and project management within one of the UK’s most prestigious art collections.
Key Responsibilities
- Project Coordination: Manage the detailed planning and execution of the artwork move, ensuring safe packing, transport, and documentation at each stage.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Act as the main point of contact with the transport agent, coordinating schedules and ensuring communication is maintained between all parties.
- Documentation & Reporting: Prepare and maintain crucial documentation, including object lists, load lists, and schedules, ensuring the integrity and tracking of each artwork during the move.
- Budget & Administration: Oversee financial aspects of the project, including tracking costs, budgeting, and reporting expenditure related to transport, handling, and packing.
- Health & Safety: Ensure that all health and safety measures are in place, including producing risk assessments and method statements, and leading daily briefings for the team.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with conservators, technicians, and the wider team to ensure the safe and efficient handling and transport of artworks.
Key Skills & Experience:
• Proven project management skills, with experience coordinating large-scale collection moves or exhibitions.
• Collections management experience, particularly in handling, packing, and moving works of art.
• Strong organisational and planning skills, with an eye for detail and the ability to work under pressure.
• Ability to manage budgets, track costs, and forecast expenditure.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
• IT proficiency, particularly with Google Suite, MS Office, and collections management systems.
• Knowledge of the safe movement, storage, and display of works of art.
• A commitment to sustainability and carbon literacy in museum practices is highly desirable. |
