  Job Description
The Royal Armouries is the United Kingdom’s national museum of arms and armour and one of the most important collections of its type in the world, housed at its headquarters and flagship museum in Leeds, its historic home at the Tower of London, and the Victorian Fort Nelson in Hampshire.

Come and lead our Exhibitions and Displays Team. Be part of the Royal Armouries inaugural and ambitious temporary exhibition programme. We are at the start of something special that will widen our appeal and bring in outstanding exhibitions. We are also embarking on a series of changing exhibitions and upgrading displays at our sites in Leeds, Fort Nelson and White Tower in the Tower of London. Could this be you?

This position is a permanent contract, working full time, 36 hours per week, 5 days out of 7. Weekend, Bank Holiday and evening working will occasionally be required, as will some travel. The post is hybrid with an expectation to be at the Leeds site 3 days a week.
  Required Skills / Qualifications
We are looking for an experienced Exhibitions and Displays Programme Manager to join our team.

This is an exciting time at the Royal Armouries, we have a number of plans and projects across our three sites, aimed at developing new audiences and making links with hardly reached groups.

We are embarking on an ambitious plan to create a new Temporary Exhibitions Space at the Royal Armouries in Leeds within the next year. This is in order to host touring and generate our own larger scale temporary exhibitions to drive audiences and increase our visitor figures.

The successful candidate will be the strategic lead on exhibitions and displays across different departments and locations to lead change and resolve issues.
You will develop and manage the programme of medium and long-term Exhibitions and Displays activity for Royal Armouries at Fort Nelson and Leeds.

You will oversee and guide the planning and delivery of improved displays and a new exhibition at the White Tower at the Tower of London.

You will be part of the transformation of the ways of working at Royal Armouries, establishing processes to ensure the smooth running of temporary exhibitions.

You will lead the Exhibitions and Displays Team in developing processes for continuous improvement and maintenance of our gallery and site displays.

You will manage a talented team of professionals to work collaboratively with others across the museum to develop exhibitions and display experiences which place the needs of audiences at their heart.
