About the Role

The Master of the Household's Department handles all aspects of hospitality across the Royal residences. The Crafts team is responsible for providing craft, conservation and restoration services to help maintain interior furniture and furnishings in regular use across royal residences.

Joining this dedicated and friendly team who work with in Windsor Castle and Buckingham Palace you’ll be responsible for the timely and careful transport of furniture, works of art and other items across residences.

You’ll also support our team of attendants with the smooth daily running of all residences activities.

Key responsibilities:

• You’ll be responsible for all logistical aspects of a move, from loading checks, planning routes and timings, driving our vehicles between sites, through to delivery and unloading.

• Safety will be a priority; you’ll carry out regular service checks on vehicles, keep to driver regulations in terms of working hours and driving times, and always ensure safe driving on the road.

• Many of items you’ll transport will have particular conservation and protection needs. You’ll work alongside colleagues to cater for these varied requirements, ensuring that every item arrives safely and in good condition.

• You’ll be a key point of contact, keeping colleagues informed and up-to-date with journeys to support wider operations.

• When you’re not on the roads, you’ll support our attendants team with the activities of a busy working castle, including function setups, movement and organisation of tech and furniture, and general maintenance of equipment and storage areas.

Teamwork is at the core of our operations, and you'll be guided and supported to achieve the highest standards in all that you do.

This role will involve lifting and moving items of various sizes on a daily basis.

The post holder with need to be flexible to travel between Windsor Castle, London and other Royal Residences.

There may also be an infrequent need for some weekend working. Whilst this is a full time role, part-time applications will be considered (minimum 4 days a week).
  Required Skills / Qualifications
Essential Criteria

• You’ll have a full, clean UK Driver’s License, with previous delivery driving experience, ideally within a workshop or warehouse environment.

• Most important is that you're an outstanding team player who enjoys working alongside others every day. This, along with a helpful and supportive attitude, will be key.

• Friendly, outgoing and professional, you'll be confident communicating and working effectively with all kinds of people.

• Good time-keeping and planning skills will be important, and you can be relied upon to manage a daily workload to meet regular deadlines.

• And with a pro-active and a flexible approach to your work, you'll be happy to get involved and adapt in order to help colleagues across the organisation.

• You'll also have a good attention to accuracy and detail, and get satisfaction from a job well done, delivering work to a consistently high standard.
