  Job Description
Apprenticeship and Skills Pathway Manager
Fixed term (13 months maternity cover)
Full-time
Midlands
£31,500 per annum

The Royal Air Force Museum is a national museum, a Government non-departmental public body (NDPB) and a registered charity, with two sister sites at London and Midlands. Our purpose is to share the RAF story, past, present and future - using the stories of its people and our collections in order to engage, inform and inspire. Our Vision is to inspire everyone with the RAF story – the people who shape it and its place in our lives.

We have two public sites (London and Midlands) and a stored collection (Stafford). Our trading company and active fundraising supplement Grant in Aid which comes through the Ministry of Defence.

The Royal Air Force Museum is a Carbon Literate organisation and as such promotes Carbon Literacy.

We are looking to recruit an Apprenticeship and Skills Pathways Manager as part of our HR and Volunteering team, to support the delivery of the Museum’s Skills Pathways Programme (apprenticeships, work experience and insight experiences) which provides opportunities and career pathways for young people and under-represented groups. This is a new and exciting opportunity that is a key part of our Inspiring People Strategy.

The key responsibilities of this role include leading a museum wide Skills Pathways Programme, to work with internal teams to further develop our existing offer. The post holder will establish strong links with local agencies to identify new opportunities and coordinate the recruitment and engagement of apprentices and work experience candidates by ensuring that the Museum is able to attract and recruit a diverse pool of candidates.

This is a fantastic development opportunity for someone who comes from a learning background and is willing to develop their skills and knowledge in Skills Pathways programme development. Previous experience and knowledge of managing apprenticeship schemes is not essential, however you will be someone who is eager to learn and develop in this area. You will be a self-starter. Excellent communication skills are a must along with a strong commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion as well as the ability to influence and build relationships with a range of stakeholders.

You will join the Museum at a very exciting time as we embark on a transformational project for our Midlands site, supported by the National Lottery Heritage Fund.

The post will be based at our Midlands site with travel between the Museum’s sites as and when required.
  Required Skills / Qualifications
• Demonstrable experience of working in a learning and development environment.
• Knowledge of designing or managing professional learning and/or talent development programmes.
• Ability to influence a range of stakeholders, from entry level employees to senior leadership.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey information clearly and concisely, and in ways that are accessible to a diverse range of people.
• Commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion.
• Experience of stakeholder management and building relationships with a range of partners.
