  Job Description
Tintagel Castle Manager
Tintagel Castle, Cornwall
Salary: £39,966 per annum

About Us
Perched dramatically on the North Cornwall coast, Tintagel Castle is a place where history meets legend. With breathtaking views and a rich past, it welcomes over 250,000 visitors from around the world each year. As part of English Heritage, we are dedicated to preserving this iconic site while delivering an exceptional visitor experience.

We’re looking for an experienced operational leader to take charge of Tintagel Castle on a full-time basis for a 12 month maternity cover contract.

The Role
Leading a team of six Site Operational Managers and Supervisors, alongside 80 staff and volunteers, you’ll be at the heart of the action; visible, and ready to jump in where needed, whether that’s managing the visitor experience, ensuring safety compliance or even stepping onto the tills during peak times.

You'll be responsible for:

- Leading and inspiring the on-site team to deliver exceptional customer service
- Driving income generation through membership, retail, and food and beverage
- Overseeing daily operations, ensuring the smooth and safe running of the site
- Managing budgets
- Engaging with the local community, helping to connect people with this incredible historic location

About You
- Essential: Strong operational experience in a visitor attraction
- A background in team leadership and people management
- Confident handling budgets, performance reporting and safety compliance
- Resilient and adaptable, able to switch between strategic oversight and practical support

An interest in history is a bonus, but not essential - what matters is your ability to lead a team and create an unforgettable experience for visitors.
